Last film watched: The Trial (1962) 8.5/10
I have yet to read Kafka, so I had no idea of what this was going to be about… but I fell in love with it instantly. The direction and cinematography is one of the best I’ve seen (superior to Kane), the atmosphere reminded me of David Lynch films (which is normal since Lynch greatest influence is Kafka…)
Orson Welles was a genius…

Remember those posters that said, “Today is the first day of the rest of your life”? Well, that’s true of every day but one - the day you die.

“Find meaning. Distinguish melancholy from sadness. Go out for a walk. It doesn’t have to be a romantic walk in the park, spring at its most spectacular moment, flowers and smells and outstanding poetical imagery smoothly transferring you into another world. It doesn’t have to be a walk during which you’ll have multiple life epiphanies and discover meanings no other brain ever managed to encounter. Do not be afraid of spending quality time by yourself. Find meaning or don’t find meaning but “steal” some time and give it freely and exclusively to your own self. Opt for privacy and solitude. That doesn’t make you antisocial or cause you to reject the rest of the world. But you need to breathe. And you need to be.

“Zen is feeling your way along in the dark. You might think it would be better to have more light, to know where you are going, and to get there in a hurry, but Zen is feeling your way along in the dark. Then you are careful and sensitive to what is happening.”
